A loan helped buy additional stocks of vegetables and cereals for my clients.

Joyce's story

I was born and grew up in Meru. I went to school in Meru and later joined Egerton university and graduated with a credit in diploma in dairy technology. I excelled in business till 2007 until I was affected by Post Election Violence in Nakuru. And separated with my husband who was constantly abusive and violent. I later moved to Nairobi to work till 2012.I left formal employment and started my own business at Kitengela.I sell cereals and groceries.Life is full of challenges but with determination and hard work we can make it. I have a big dream of starting a poultry farm, educate my children and give them the best and to own food store retail chains and wholesale in the country.
While in Nakuru i was running a restaurant and a yoghurt making joint near Egerton University. I lost everything when my ex-husband threatened to kill me. I left without even my own clothes. But i am happy i have picked the pieces and moved on! Life is how you take it and thank my church, friends, family and my trustee for always encouraging me to move forward. My 3 beautiful girls are an inspiration in my life.
