Aisha Nansubuga ‘S Group's story

Aisha is a leader of a five member group. She is a 48-year-old mother of three children aged between 28 and 32 years. None of her children attend school. She rents a two roomed house where she lives with four people. There is electricity and no piped water at her home. The family gets three meals a day.

She resides and works in a semi urban area which is in the outskirts of Kampala. Aisha operates a retail shop. She attends to an average of 25 people a day and sells to all categories of people. She works seven days a week. Aisha does her shopping from Kikuubo in Kampala city. Her major monthly expenses include, rent for the business premises, electricity and medication. She has been in this business for the last seven years. Her main challenges are defaulters and seasonality. Aisha has been with MCDT for over five years and is servicing her eleventh loan, working with the same group mates. She wants to use thaw loan to buy boxes of soap, bags of sugar and other home products. Aisha is aspiring of opening up her own wholesale shop.
