A loan helped buy a sack of tea leaves (45-50kgs) that I can sell at my tea leaves business.

Norah Muhonja's story

I grew up in the western part of Kenya. I attended primary school there and completed half of high school but had to drop out due to a lack of funds. I then got married and had three children, two boys and one girl. My husband became sick and we began to have issues with family members. When my husband died I was forced to leave my home and I moved to Kibera so that I could find a job and help provide for my family and educate my children. My first born is now 26, but stays in the house because of mental issues he gained after his sister was poisoned and died here in Kibera.

When my last born finishes education, I want to work hard to get a place for the family to stay. My granddaughter is now staying with me after her parents passed away and I am fighting so that I can find another place for my family to stay. I am praying day and night that my children and family can go to school and can go far in life.
