A loan helped purchase a juice blender and fruit for my business.

Tabitha Waithira's story

My name is Tabitha Waithira Kimwaki. I was born in Murang'a District in 1953 as the seventh born in a family of thirteen children. My parents were peasant farmers and they managed to educate me up to the primary level and I was forced to drop out from school and start helping my parents with the household chores. I later got employed as a cleaner in our local church where I worked for a period of 4 years.

I got married in 1971 to my husband and later moved to Njoro village to my husbands land. I am a mother of 5 children. I have struggled to raise my children and they are now of age. They have schooled up to high school level and I am determined to take them to college once I get money to pay for their college fees.

I manage a fruits and fresh juice kiosk in Kihingo town for over 10 years now. The biggest challenge in this business is lack of capital to expand and grow and particularly money to acquire a fridge to preserve the fruits and juices. It is my hope to purchase a fridge and also expand my business.
