A loan helped a member to buy more bags of rice, sugar and bars of soap to sell.

Mworra I Nyekundire Group's story

Hope runs a retail shop of general merchandise in Kamwenge, Uganda. She is a member of Mworra I Nyekundire Group, in which members guarantee each other to acquire financial support from micro-finance institutions.

Hope is 30 years old and has six children, who all attend school in Kamwenge. She earns additional income from growing crops, rearing goats and fattening cattle, and with these, she looks after herself and also caters to her family. She longs to grow her business and expand it into a wholesale shop, but her big challenge is stiff competition from the surrounding traders dealing in the same business.

She requests a loan to buy more bags of rice, sugar and bars of soap to sell ahead of the Easter festive season.
