A loan helped to pay university fees.


Felix's story

Hello, Kiva lenders, meet Felix. He was born and raised in the Kibera slums in Nairobi. He is the first born of three children. His father is a watchman and his mother is a housewife. Felix helps his father in providing for the family.

He describes his high school days as not so hopeful, since he was hardly ever in class for his four years of learning. Despite it all, he graduated from high school, although with a a huge fee balance. He only managed to pay for this and salvage his certificates after joining DDD.

He joined Digital Divide Data Kenya Limited in 2014 and he says his engagement has hugely transformed his life and given him hope for the future. Felix says that the DDD work-study program helps its employees to get professional skills, acquire higher education, earn lasting income and get a partial scholarship.

He is currently in his second year at Kenyatta University, undertaking a degree course in Public Policy and Administration. He is requesting a supplementary loan towards his school fees to enable him graduate in 2017.
