A loan helped a member to build a clean and safe closed toilet in her house.

Annapurna's Group's story

Annapurna is a married lady, with four children in her care, standing to the extreme left hand side of the photograph. To make a living and support her family, she has engaged in poultry farming for the last six years.

One of the critical victims of India's prevailing rural sanitation crisis, Annapurna does not have access to a toilet at her home. She many times has fallen ill due to the unsanitary practices that she follows of opting for open defecation and has ended up spending a significant portion of her savings as unnecessary medical expenses.

Annapurna wants to improve the general living conditions of the entire family by having a latrine to use, because there is no latrine in her house now. Therefore, she, along with her other group members, is requesting a loan of 45,000 INR from Kiva's partner, People's Forum.

She will use her portion of the loan to build a clean and safe closed toilet in her house and reduce her unnecessary medical expenses and promote her savings which can be used productively in future.

Annapurna is in dire need of your kind help and support and is eagerly awaiting the same with a lot of hopes and aspirations.
