A loan helped to buy new working materials and to renovate her food stall.

Bhoke's story

Bhoke is a married woman in her early 40s. She is the mother of four school-going children. Bhoke works as a local food vendor, and has been cooking and serving food to her customers for three years now. She works from 5am to 10pm daily and is able to raise a good monthly profit.

This will be Bhoke's fourth loan with Tujijenge Tanzania. She used her previous loan to buy dishes and to restock her store with more sacks of rice, beans, maize and cans of cooking oil, helping her business to run smoothly. By doing this she was able to make more profits - a little portion of which she used to pay school fees, buy food for the family, reinvest in her business, and repay the loan. Bhoke is happy with the support given to her by Kiva and its partners.

She applied for this loan to buy new working materials such as saucepans, plates and a water tank for water restoration. Bhoke also needs to renovate her stall in order to make it more attractive and appealing.

Bhoke will be accountable for paying back the loan given to her. She dreams of building her own house someday.

This loan is special because:

It provides loans to borrowers in very deep rural areas via mobile money innovation.
