The organization has been involved in microfinancing activities since 2000 under MMS. In 2010, VisionFund Indonesia was set up as the legal structure for implementing microfinance. VisionFund Indonesia operates in Indonesia, which has a huge untapped market. Of 42 million microbusinesses in Indonesia, only 16 million have been served by MFIs so far. As of September 30th, 2011, VisionFund Indonesia currently is serving more than 8,500 customers through 9 branches in Jakarta and Surabaya, and aspires to grow the businesses rapidly but in a sustainable manner. VisionFund Indonesia?s main target are the entrepreneurial poor who have existing microbusinesses for at least 6 months and have no financial access to commercial banks. VisionFund Indonesia provides microloans (ranging from US$50 - $600) through solidarity groups consisting of 5-10 poor business people, with no physical collateral, payable in 6-12 months with repayment frequency of weekly, biweekly or monthly."
