A loan helped a member to buy animals for resale.

Danna Group's story

Paul is a Malian man and he is sitting with the goat in the photo. He has an animal raising activity and is also a farmer. He is a jovial and welcoming person but also serious in his work. He is 58 years old and father to 11 children, five of whom are dependants. His children range from 11 to 28 years of age and one of his five dependant children is at school. Paul's wife stocks shea nuts and "néré" (the fruit of an oil-producing tree) which she then sells, and this allows her to help her husband with some of the family's expenses. Paul has turned to RMCR so he can obtain more loans to buy more sheep. He is going to use this loan to carry out his activity of raising livestock (sheep, goats, bulls). He gets his supplies in the weekly markets held in his town and resells them at the same markets. Paul is illiterate and has been carrying out this activity for more than 30 years. He estimates his monthly profit at 30,000FCFA, and with this profit he manages to provide for his family's wellbeing as well as the education of his child who attends school.
