A loan helped to buy volume of used rubber tires and interiors as raw materials for her business.

Lita's story

Lita, 54 years old, from Butuan City, Agusan Del Norte, finds a good source of income from recycling old rubber tires and interiors. She buys used rubber tires and recycles them into new products such as plant pots and garbage containers. It’s a good way of transforming unusable things into useful products. It’s a prolific business, but her only difficulty is the unstable supply of rubber and high cost of raw materials. Sometimes she cannot meet the demands of customers due to insufficient stocks. She intends to buy a volume of used rubber tires and interiors as raw materials for her business, when she acquires enough capital. She is requesting a loan for PhP 15,000 to secure the continuous operations of her business. With this, she will be able to boost her income and sustain the needs of her family of six children. If her business grows steadily, she can attain her dream to put up a presentable shop and slowly acquire a lot where she can build a decent house for her family. She and her husband Felipe, her business partner, wish to bestow a stable business to their children after they finish their college education.

Lita meets with her co-fellowship* members every week to share stories of her life and business and to draw strength and inspiration from the fellowship and the Word of God. *All CCT community partners/clients are organized into fellowship groups that meet on a weekly basis. A fellowship group is composed of 15 to 30 community partners. The fellowship groups gather each week to study the Word of God, build social capital, and repay Micro Finance loans.
