Charity's story

Charity is a 26-year-old businesswoman. She is a married mother of one and she lives in the Nyaminyami district of Zimbabwe. She has been successfully buying and selling clothes and is being assisted by her family members. She started the business to provide for her family. She wanted to raise school fees for herself and her sisters.

Charity sells pants, blankets and assorted shoes. With the requested loan she intends to make bulk purchases of clothes and become a viable supplier of clothes in her community. When Charity is not working at the flea market, she is doing volunteer work including cleaning the school yard, the clinic and sometimes community parks.Charity was buying fish and selling in bulk. When she received the loan the business was down since her husband has been ill for a long time. She used some of the profits to pay for her husband’s medication and general fees for her child. With the rest of the profits, she bought cement and paid someone to plaster her house. She is using the profits to meet all family needs since her husband lost his job due to the long-time illness and she sometimes buys groceries for her parents. She needs to acquire a passport and buy clothes from neighboring countries since buying in Harare is expensive. She also intends to supplement and pass her Ordinary Levels. She desires to get a second loan for her further expansion of her loan.
