Leticia lives with her family in the Locality of Las Perlas, which is located in Las Margaritas Municipality in the state of Chiapas. The Locality has only 232 residents who live in an organized way, most of the residents working in agriculture. Las Perlas is situated in the jungle area of the state, where it is common to harvest maize and coffee because of the climate conditions.
Leticia is a farmer who works all year in the cultivation of corn and coffee but she only gets paid during harvest season. Leticia's family, as all the community, do not have access to basic needs like electricity so she wants to purchase a solar system to light her house. With the solar system she would replace the use of firewood and candles and her family and she would be able to spend time with each other during night.
