Manuel 46, is single and has no family responsibilities. He lives in the family home with his parents and a brother. His father receives a retirement pension and his brother works in agriculture in the area. His family is very close. He lives in the Cayaltí district in the province of Chiclayo in the Lambayeque region on Peru's northern coast, an area with a warm climate where people work in agriculture and ranching.

Manuel is known in the area for his work raising and selling pigs, and he has good personal and work references. He has earned a living raising and selling pigs for more than about two years. He also works as an agricultural day laborer.

He needs a loan to buy balanced fattening feed for pigs. This will allow him to improve his income in the short term, increase his profits, and, as a result, improve his and his family's quality of life.
