A loan helped a member to purchase meat to sell.

Fe En Dios Group's story

David is 31 years old, and he lives with his common-law-wife, with whom he has one child. He lives in a village in the municipality of Tela, Atlántida, near the zone of El Progreso. Previously, he worked for daily wages on a palm plantation, and three years ago he decided to go into business for himself, selling beef and pork. He carries out this activity--purchasing and selling the meats--in an ambulatory fashion.

He has requested two previous loans in order to maintain his business, and he is currently requesting a group loan of 11,000 lempiras in order to purchase meat and increase his sales. His plan is to establish himself financially and improve his family's quality of life.

The group is called "Fe en Dios" [Faith in God], and it is composed of 8 people who devote themselves to various business activities such as selling meat, clothing, sandals, and snacks. They live in the same community. They will invest the loan amount, 88,000 lempiras, in the purchase of more products such as meat, clothing, sandals, snacks, and similar items in order to sell them.
