A loan helped a member buy 10 bags of rice at 12,500 CFA francs each, 2 containers of palm oil, 7 containers of vegetable oil, and various other food products.

Sountou's Group's story

The group was established December 12, 2011 at the inauguration of the "banc villageois" loan association. It consists of women who went through six loan cycles and have reached a good agreement within the group. They have been living in the same neighborhood for several years. Their main activity is small retail commerce, along with farming during the rainy season.

Mrs. Sountou (seated on the right with her hand raised) is the featured borrower for the group. She is a model due to her commitment. She is 44 years old, married with three daughters aged 13 through 22 years.

She is active in the trade of food products such as oil palm, groundnut paste, onions and various other products she buys at the international market for resale in her home-based shop.

She intends to use the new loan to buy ten bags of rice at 12,500 CFA francs each, two containers of palm oil, seven containers of vegetable oil, and various other food products.

She will use the profits to handle daily expenditures on the one hand, and on the other hand increase her savings.

In this group: Sountou, Diarietou, Hawa, Fatou
