A loan helped to buy agricultural products to help her coffee harvest.


Sonia Maritza's story

Sonia is 34 years old. She is a farmer by trade, having learned this activity from her family. For more than 15 years, agriculture has been the principle source of income in her family. She also has a small corner store in her home which makes money when there is a good price for coffee beans. She completed primary school thanks to the financial support of her parents. From her marriage, she has three children who live with her and her husband and are in school. The land that they farm as a family is their own. The acquired part of it through a family inheritance and the other part through effort and sacrifice. It is located 2 kilometers from their house and they get there on foot.

Sonia is asking for Kiva investors' financial assistance so she will be able to maintain her coffee harvest by using fertilizers, manures, plant nutrients among other things. This is indispensable and necessary in order to have a good harvest .Her goals as a coffee producer are to continue increasing the area that she farms, plant more coffee, and work as a family in the business so that each and every person can feel as if they are part of the achievements and sacrifices that they confront everyday.
