A loan helped a member to buy second hand clothes for resale.

Kugutakushanda Group's story

Melody is a single mother aged thirty six and is the sole breadwinner in a family of three. She is proud of the fact that she has been able to pay for her children’s education through the activities of the group known as Kugutakushanda (translated briefly as “sweat to feed”) that she is part of. This group previously got Thrive loans twice and their payment history was marvelous with Melody being the Treasurer during that time.

Melody’s business has shown modest progression as she used to run a small business of selling fruits and vegetables along the road. When she got her first loan she developed her stall and managed to improve her standards of living since she managed to rent two rooms from one previously rented before the loan. During her second loan she managed to start another business of selling second hand clothes from Mozambique where she sends a sister for procurement and managed to deposit a residential stand which is now paying monthly.

Melody will use her portion of this loan to grow her two businesses and plans to apply for a passport which will enable her to procure second hand clothes in Mozambique.

In this group: Sithokozile, Melody, Lizzie, Josirina
