A loan helped to buy animal feed to sell to her customers.

Ruth's story

Ruth is a 59-year-old widow and blessed with four children who look to her for their daily upkeep and basic needs. She has been running a M-Pesa Agent or local transfer business, and also sells animal feed as a secondary business. She has been doing this for a period of eleven years, earning an income of KSh 35,000 at the end of every month.

Ruth was introduced to VisionFund Kenya by a credit officer and has applied for her first loan of KSh 100,000 and plans to use the entire loan amount to purchase more stock of animal feed to sell to her customers.

Ruth plans to use the anticipated income to pay for the school fees for her children, and hopes to become a successful businesswoman in the community.
