A loan helped to purchase cigarettes, assorted drinks, and biscuits to expand her business.

Fatmata's story

Meet Fatmata; she is a 42 year old from Goderich, in the western area in Freetown. She is married, with three children.

20 years ago, Fatmata established her general stock business. She began her business because she wanted to assist her husband in taking care of the home. She works at the business from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm, 6 days per week. She says that the main challenge to her business is insufficient capital to expand her business.

Fatmata requires a loan in order to purchase cigarettes, assorted drinks, and biscuits to expand her business.

She hopes that the extra income from this loan will allow her to change her status of living and increase her business. Seemingly distinct businesses are often mixed in Sierra Leone, the idea being that a customer will come to purchase one thing but will leave having purchased another.

In the future, Fatmata plans to expand her business more than ever. She thanks you for your support.
