Rose Nalwadda’s Group's story

Rose is a leader of 4 members of a group. She is a 46-year-old married woman with 6 children, aged between 30 and 8. Two of her children go to school. Rose takes care of 4 grandchildren. She resides in and owns a 6-room house, where she is staying with 6 people. Rose takes care of additional family members. They have electricity but no piped water at home.


The family gets 3 meals a day. She resides and works in a semi-urban area that is on the outskirts of Kampala. Rose operates a retail shop in Kamwokya Kifumbira, one of the city suburbs, and buys her products from Kampala City. Rose uses public transport to go back and forth to her business. She sells to all categories of people, and her monthly expenses include school fees and medication.


Rose works 7 days a week and has been with MCDT for 8 years, servicing her sixteenth loan. She wants to use this loan to expand her business and aspires to sell wholesale.
