A loan helped to buy clothes, sheets and beverages to sell.

Cruz Betty's story

The communal bank “Santa Gema” meets fortnightly in Tarqui, a neighborhood in the city of Manta. This city is famous for its beautiful beaches, popular all year long. Its beauty has no equal and it has many touristic attractions.

This is where Cruz lives. She is 58, married, and has two children who are independent adults. Her husband is a cabinetmaker. Cruz is a housewife who works in order to generate her own income and help her husband with the home expenses. She is a saleswoman and has a small store at home where she sells sodas, water, ice cream and different beverages. She also sells clothes, sheets and underwear, among other things. She sells door-to-door, but also at home. She sells on credit and collects weekly. She started this business with the first loan she received with the group, some years ago. She feels grateful and this is how she makes a living.

With this loan she will buy clothes, sheets, sodas and water. She is a member of this group since it started and likes to be part of it because this is how she started her business. Her dream is to continue progressing.
