La Dolorosa Del Pueblito (Montecristi) Group's story

The Credit Group La Dolorosa del Pueblito meets every 15 days in the Canton Montecristi, known for its rich pre-colonial culture and its handicrafts which are recognized nationally and internationally. It is the place of the famous straw hats.
This group is composed of 11 women and 2 men who decided to get together and form a Communal Bank which has helped them a lot because through the loans obtained they have improved their small businesses and quality of life. They carry out various activities including commerce, services, and food sales, among other activities.
One of the partners in the group is Sonia who is 26 years of age, single, lives with her parents, and is studying for a degree in Education Sciences. Sonia is a hard working young woman whom due to her efforts has been able to advance in her studies to have a better future and be able to form a family. She has a shop with foodstuffs and a bazaar in her house. She started the business 8 years ago, first with the store and then the bazaar as time went by. This is how she finances her studies and helps her parents who have limited resources. Her mother helps her at the store when she needs to leave for the university where she studies.
This loan will help her buy foodstuffs to stock her store and also bazaar articles. She's been with the Credit Group from the start and she likes it because thanks to the loans she improves her business and her life. Her dream is to finish her studies and be a great professional.
