A loan helped a member to purchase fertilizers and seeds, and pay for harvesting fees.

Ghatagaon Tarini Asd Group's story

Living in a thatched roof house in a rural village of the Khurda district of Odisha, India, Laxmi is aged 28 years old and married. The lady standing with her hand raised is Laxmi. She and her husband have three children and earn a living through farming rice and working for others for a fee. With her current business, she is able to earn approximately 4,000 INR per day to support her family.

This is the first loan for Laxmi with Kiva’s partner, People's Forum. Now she is leading her group to ask for a loan. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to purchase fertilizers and seeds and pay for harvesting fees. She hopes to have more crop yields and sell the crops at a good price, so as to improve her lifestyle.

All the members of this "Ghatagaon Tarini ASD" self-help group are from the same village, and all the group members are engaged in different business activities like milk selling, animal rearing, etc. All are very happy and grateful for this support.

In this group: Laxmi, Sapana, Saraswati, Basanti, Kabita, Mamini, Sumi, Sumita, Kamini, Koka, Kumari, Ahalya, Sundari
