Marino's story

Mariano, 49 years old, lives with his wife in San Juan de Chorrillos, a rural area of Callayuc, in the region of Cajamarca, north of Peru. The residents of this community work mostly in agriculture, livestock and commerce.

Mariano works in the distillation of liquor (“aguardiente”), a process that consists of boiling the juice from sugar cane, and after it undergoes a phase of purification, it can be used for either curative/medical purposes, or as an alcoholic beverage for special celebrations. Mariano is well known in the community for his business.

He is requesting a loan of 4500 nuevos soles, to purchase sugar cane to increase his production and sales, ultimately increasing the family income.
