Kumba's story

Meet 40-year-old Kumba from Waterloo2, the East End of Freetown. She is married and blessed with 9 children. She began her business because she wants to improve her family'sliving conditions. In 2008, Kumba established her general stock business. She works at the business 9 hours per day, 7 days per week. She says that the main challenges to her business are price inflation and transportation difficulties.

Kumba requires a loan in order to purchase more items like cigarettes, cookies, drinks and filtered water. She hopes that the extra income from this loan will allow her to increase her business and have a permanent business location. In the future, Kumba plans to own the biggest shop in the community.
