A loan helped to pay for facility and labor expenses for her fitness club.

Joanna's story

Joanna’s interest in fitness began when she first joined a kickboxing club. After working out there for several years and later becoming a certified instructor, it was a natural progression for Joanna to open her own franchise.

The statewide kickboxing club is a cardio-intensive total body workout that began in the 1990s in Hoboken, New Jersey. Joanna believes in the exercise program, and she wants to help others achieve self-confidence and strength. Recently, Joanna hosted an outdoor kickboxing workout, which was a great success and brought about 30-35 attendees.

Since April 2013, Joanna has managed a full-time administration job in New York, in addition to owning this business franchise. A trained Zumba instructor and AFAA-certified group fitness instructor, Joanna is now pursuing another certification on obesity and exercise.

Eventually, Joanna would like to be able to dedicate herself full-time to her franchise and to open additional franchises as well. The funds of this loan will go toward facility and labor expenses associated with running this new business.
