A loan helped a member to pay the school fees for his children.

Sahr Mathew's Group's story

Pictured here are teachers from a primary school in Koidu, a city in eastern Sierra Leone. This group of teachers has come to SMT, a partner of Kiva.org, to apply for a loan of 7,000,000 SLL for the entire team. With the help of this loan, these teachers can meet their immediate financial challenges and at the end of each month, they can make their loan payments using their monthly salaries.

Komba is the featured leader of this group. He is a native of the village of Canaan, near Kono. The 40-year-old is married to a teacher and the couple has six children.

Komba has been a school teacher for 28 years now. He has requested this loan in order to pay the school fees for his children. He will also use part of the loan to buy house-building materials such as iron, corrugated zinc, sand, nails, cement, etc. for the construction of a dwelling house.
