A loan helped to purchase organic fertilizer.

Paulina's story

Paulina is 41 years old. She is a simple and hardworking woman. She lives with her husband José and together they have seven children, but only four of them live with them in the home they inherited twenty years ago. She works as a farmer, growing potatoes, corn, ulluco, and fava beans, among other crops. She says this has always been her main business, since she started farming at a young age on the plots of land that she inherited, which she still works on with much dedication. "Out of the seven days of the week, I spend three of them in Lima, where I sell my products. If I run out, I buy from other farmers. That way I manage to obtain a higher profit," she mentions joyfully. She also owns six milk cows and makes cheese to sell.

This is her first loan through Kiva. During all this time she has proven to be responsible in paying her installments. She appreciates this financial opportunity because it will help her improve. Paulina will invest the money in buying organic fertilizer so that she can improve her crops, and she expects to obtain good results this season.
