A loan helped to buy clothing.

Salimata's story

Born in 1978, Salimata lives with her 3 children and her husband in a traditional family environment in the district of Dougounina, Bougouni town. Not having had the chance to progress with her studies, she very quickly became interested in revenue-generating activities, notably the buying and selling of different types of clothing from Bamako, and pagnes (highly decorative and colourful West African fabric) from Burkina.

Salimata is on her 1st loan from Soro Yiriwaso, which will be used to buy 50 bolts of pagnes from the wholesalers. She makes her sales from her home and on the streets for cash or credit, to a retail clientèle made up of men and women. Salimata hopes to make a monthly profit of 90 000 francs, which will be used to help her husband meet the family's needs, to repay the loan and to reinvest in her business.
