A loan helped a member to buy fertilizer for her farm.

Sithou's Group's story

Sithou is a 34-year-old mother of five children. She earns a living through farming rice, and her husband plants cassava to gain extra income to support the family. She has been in this business for fifteen years, and it earns her about 21,000 KHR per day. All of her children are still in school.

Sithou’s group consists of two members who live in the same village. She is in her first loan with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. Now she is leading her group to apply for a loan. Sithou will use her portion to buy fertilizer for her farm; he will also use a portion of it to pay for labor. She hopes to increase her family’s income from her current business to reach a higher standard of living and keep her children in school.
