Carlos is 34 year-old hardworking man who appreciates sincerity and good manners. He lives with his partner, Dalila, and their 5 year-old son. They own their home.
He cultivates manioc on 25 hectares of land (approx. 61.8 acres) he bought 11 years ago, which is the length of time he has been doing this work. He currently has 5 hectares (approx. 12.4 acres) producing manioc. He also cultivates other crops seasonally, such as rice and corn. In order to get the work done, he contracts the services of five workers during the harvest. The number of people he hires depends on the work he needs to get done in the fields. He sells his crops wholesale in sacks at the main market in the city. He is likely to rent some of his land to other farmers who need to plant their crops.
This is his third loan from MFP and he is grateful to all the people who continue to have confidence in him and who enable him to obtain funding again that will help him to increase his working capital. He knows that he will have to be very responsible again and above all very punctual in his repayments. He is pleased to belong to his communal bank because he sees that the members are very supportive.
With the sum requested, S/. 1,500, he plans to invest in the cultivation of one more hectare (approx. 2.5 acres) of manioc to increase his production. For that he will contract the necessary labor force and purchase fertilizer and some tools to replace those he has now.
