A loan helped buy more hair dryers.

Diriisa's story

Diriisa is 40 years old and lives in the town of Gaba in the Fort Portal region of Uganda. He is married and has 4 children, 3 of whom are currently in school. For the past 5 years, Diriisa has been working hard to manage his salon, where he styles and cuts women's hair.

To help expand his business, Diriisa has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more hair drying machines, and it will help Diriisa to generate greater profits and allow him to cater to more clients. Diriisa hopes that, in the future, he will be able to create other businesses.

Diriisa is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Diriisa who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
