A loan helped to buy a chuff cutter.

Rose's story

Rose is the mother of three children, two of whom are adults with the last being 17 years old and still in school. Rose has been farming for five consecutive years, producing and selling cabbages, carrots, sweet potatoes and milk. She sells her produce to the local market to meet her family's needs. Rose also works as a tailor.

Rose has requested a loan of 60,000 KES from Kiva partner Juhudi Kilimo to buy a chuff cutter. She plans to expand her dairy farming and construct a zero grazing unit. She wants to diversify crop farming as well. She says that the chuff cutter will ease feeding the dairy animals and reduce wastage of dairy feeds. Rose says that her major challenges are pests and wild animals breaking into the farm.
