Eulalia belongs to the “Virgen Asunta de Racsa” communal bank in the city of Cusco, Perú. She’s married and has three children two of which are school age. The oldest is in the first years of university.
Eulalia is a wholesale potato merchant, work she’s been doing for many years. Eulalia carries out this demanding work all day from very early in the dawn hours when she receives her merchandise from producers until late at night when commercial activity at the wholesale market ends. Eulalia comments that this sacrifice is for her family, to offer her children a better education which is an investment she considers to be of utmost importance and to some day in the not too distant future to see them all become professionals working in less physically demanding jobs.
On this occasion, she will use the loan to capitalize her business buying different species of potatoes at wholesale to cover market and customer demand. Her main customers are other small stores, supermarkets, hotels and restaurants.
Eulalia is very grateful to KIVA for allowing her to stay in business and provide sustenance for her home and to provide a good education for her children which is Eulalia’s greatest dream: that they all become professionals.
