A loan helped to buy a dairy cow and construct a dairy unit.

Francis's story

Francis is a farmer in the Kitale area of Western Kenya. He is age thirty-seven and married with four children between the ages of fifteen and four years. He has employed one farmhand and sells his produce of milk, maize and vegetables to the local market. He also runs a motorcycle transport business besides the farming business.

Francis has requested a third loan from Juhudi Kilimo amounting to 82,400 KES, after the first and second ones of 30,000 KES and 60,000 KES respectively. He will use the third loan to buy and insure a dairy cow at 62,400 KES and construct a dairy unit at 20,000 KES. He hopes to have five dairy cows in five years and rank among the leading suppliers for the local processing plants in the area.

He appreciates the Juhudi Kilimo loan services but says animal food shortages and diseases still remain a challenge.
