Vedji's story

Mrs. Vedji is a 47-year old married woman who lives in a village in Senegal. She has three children between 17 and 27 years of age. She has been a vendor for over 10 years, selling traditional “wax” cloth and linens. She has chosen this type of work with the goal of gaining an income and helping her husband with family expenses. She is very motivated by the revenues she earns. She has been a member of the U-IMCEC branch since November 2003. She has already reimbursed a prior loan and is seeking a loan of 200,000 West African francs for purchasing linen and traditional cloth for resale. Her goal is to increase her income in order to improve the socioeconomic conditions of her family.
