A loan helped a member to buy vegetables.

Luciernagas Group's story

The Communal Bank “Luciernagas” is starting its first loan cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Los Andes Community Center. This group consists of six members and is led by a Board of Directors headed by Sra. Juana. The members of this Communal Bank engage in various businesses in order to get ahead such as selling fruit, making bodices, selling trousers, selling bags, and selling jeans.

Sra. Juana says that this is the first time she has worked with Pro Mujer. She joined the organization upon receiving an invitation from a promoter. Juana currently has a business of selling vegetables and has been working for many years. She learned this trade from her family.

The loan she is receiving now will be used to increase her capital for buying vegetables, which she acquires in bulk in La Ceja. She then sells her goods at the fairs. By working in this manner, she is able to generate income to support her family. Juana is married and has five children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, Juana said that she enjoys the health services.
