A loan helped to purchase additional grocery products to sell.

Girlie's story

Girlie is from Calabayan, Ozamiz City. She is 31 years old and married with two school-aged children. Girlie owns and operates a general store, selling a variety of different products like soap, sugar, shampoo, salt, dried fish, food for snacks, soft drinks, noodles, eggs and other items in the local community.

Girlie is very glad and thankful to the cooperative and to the people who supported the previous loan she acquired from GDMPC. She started with a meager amount of capital and now her general store is expanding. The investment grows well. The return is excellent. She was able to send her child to a good school and she oftentimes provides for her family's needs.

Girlie has been engaged in her business for over five years and earns approximately 6,500 Philippines pesos (PHP) a month from it. In 2007, Girlie joined GDMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities.

She is requesting a loan of 30,000 PHP, which will be used to purchase additional grocery products to sell. This will be the ninth loan taken out by Girlie from GDMPC. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve her family's general living conditions.
