A loan helped a member to buy household items like a television and a generator.


Sembu Brima's Group's story

This group of teachers has come to SMT/Kiva lenders to seek of a loan of SLL 11,000,000. With the help of this loan, some of these teachers will start a small business and those who are already running small businesses will invest the loan in their business. Some of the staff members will be using the loan to buy pieces of furniture, others to either pay for their children's education or pay for themselves to pursue further studies. Others will use their loan in home building projects. With their monthly salaries, they will gradually repay their loan to SMT.

Sembu is the leader of this group of teachers. The 57-year-old has been in the teaching profession for 32 years now. A native of Mile Ninety One small town, Sembu is a husband and father of five children. Sembu has requested this loan in order to buy household items like a television and a generator.
