A loan helped to buy fruits and vegetables.

Alejandra's story

Alejandra is a member of the community bank “Mapuamulen” from the city of Concepción. She has worked in trade for 5 years selling fruits and vegetables.

Alejandra works her business from the courtyard in her home. She works everyday during the week on a fixed schedule. She buys her merchandise from the market (main center for vegetables), which is more economically convenient.

With the loan she will buy fruits and vegetables in bulk.

Her dream is to have a store where she can sell groceries, cleaning supplies, vegetables, among others, in addition to buying a car that will allow her to transfer the merchandise.

On a personal level, her dream is to apply for homeownership because currently Alejandra, her husband and four children are living in a situation of close friends at the home of his in-laws. Therefore, their motivation to continue in the business is specifically to realize their dreams and aspirations, in this way to provide better welfare for their family.

Alejandra is very grateful for the loan granted by Fondo Esperanza, since with it she will be able to invest in her business, which will be fundamental. With respect to the meetings, Alejandra feels very happy and comfortable and the interpersonal relationships are very pleasant. With the training she has learned to distribute and better organize her business earnings.

Concepción sits at the mouth of the Bíobío river, one of the largest in the country, south of Chile, in the Bíobío region. It has had an important function in our history, being home to major battles and important settlement, especially during the War of Arauco, being on the border with Mapuche territory. Currently, the city has an important economic and demographic development, becoming considered as one of the urban, demographic, administrative, financial and most important commercial areas in Chile, after Santiago and Valparaiso.
