A loan helped to buy sacks of manure.

Maria's story

María is a young woman of 25 who lives with her husband and son in her own home. She has been farming with her family since she was a child, mainly growing potatoes and crops such as corn, oats, wheat, alfalfa, etc. She constantly cares for her growing crops and gets rid of the weeds that can damage a good harvest. María also supports herself financially by raising animals such as sheep, pigs and guinea pigs which she sells occasionally as the need arises

Over time, María has managed to improve her crop production. She takes her harvested crops and sells them directly in the markets nearest her town. She considers farming to be very beneficial to her family since they have food available for their own consumption. However, she would also like to break into another type of business. María would like to sell groceries wholesale, taking advantage of the fact that some of her crops would count as available merchandise.

This is the second time that María has requested a loan from MFP as an individual. She had a good experience with her previous loan since she was able to make a good investment and improve her production. She will invest this loan in buying sacks of manure for her next growing season.
