A loan helped to buy a variety of fabrics to meet her customer demands.

Barihatu's story

Barihatu is a 30-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her extended family in Nanumba North Municipal district in Ghana. With her previous Kiva loan, she expanded her business. She used the profits she earned to support her daily needs.

Barihatu is requesting another loan to buy a variety of fabrics to meet her customer's demands. She plans to use the profit she earns to reinvest in her business.

Barihatu will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering 2.5 hours per week as a Camfed Learner Guide, facilitating classes from Camfed's ‘My Better World’ program with students at her local secondary school, helping to build their self-esteem and motivating them to remain in school.

This loan is special because:

It provides 0% interest loans to entrepreneurs that give back to their community by mentoring.
