A loan helped to buy more bunches of yellow and sweet bananas.

Rose's story

Rose N. lives in the Kalerwe neighborhood in the city of Kampala, Uganda. She is single and has four children; all of them are in school. She lives in a home that she rents; she has access to electricity but not to piped water. Her major monthly expenses include rent, feeding the family and school fees.

Rose has run a business selling yellow bananas for 10 years, working 6 days each week. She sells her products in the market at the retail level. Rose has requested a loan of 400,000 UGX from MCDT SACCO in order to buy more bunches of both sweet and yellow bananas. The main business challenge for Rose is seasonality. Her goals and hopes for her business are to expand it to earn more profit by going directly to farmers.
