Simariva Group's story

The "SIMARIVA" communal bank is a hard-working, responsible, happy group made up of sixteen members. They are in their 37th lending cycle. The communal bank is lead by the president along with the secretary and the treasurer. For reasons related to the pandemic, only those three appear in the above photo.

Mariela has two children. For some time she has earned her living selling sodas and groceries in her general store, which is set up in the front part of her house. Mariela also farms; she grows mullein and cacao. With those two lines of work, she and her partner are getting ahead.

Mariela is requesting a loan so she can take care of her plot of land. She wants to purchase compost and contract day laborers to help so she can have quality products, cacao as well as mullein.
