Chicas Poderosas De Puente Group's story

This group is called Chicas Poderosas D. Puente. The women live in the community of Puente D. IxtL. in Morelos state, Mexico.

The community is well known because of its history. In the XVI century a bridge was built which used to link the port of Acapulco and Mexico City. It still exists today on one siD. of the Palacio Municipal. The community took its name from the bridge as did the group.

The group has eleven members.

It should be noted that the an archeological site has recently been discovered in this area

Araceli F. is the group’s treasurer. She earns a living by selling thread, yarn, and embroidered napkins, a business she started eleven years ago. Araceli is seeking a loan to buy yarn and fabric to make the napkins. She is 34 years old, studied Spanish at university, is single and doesn’t have any children. She is happy right now as she is going to be able to buy yarn with the loan, have a greater range of stock, and be able to embroider more napkins. With the money she earns, she hopes to proviD. financial support for her parents. She is their sole means of support.

In this group: Carmen, Isabel, Ana, Araceli, Marisol, Maribel, Daniela, Reyna, Linda Lizbeth, Emma, Angelica
