A loan helped to access quality farm inputs and services.

Sunday's story

Sunday returned to his village in Bauchi, Nigeria from the city three years ago after losing his job to begin maize farming. Like many other farmers in his community, the income he earns from cultivating is not sustainable enough to enhance the standard of living of his family.

Before joining Babban Gona, Sunday's major challenge as a farmer was the lack of access to quality inputs and poor farming practices and because of the training provided by Babban Gona, he was able to get the maximum output from his farm.

Also, there is currently an increase in the cost of fertilizers due to political tension; therefore Sunday is requesting an increased loan to buy better-yielding seeds, fertilizers, and other important agricultural inputs that will improve his farming operations and boost his yield enabling him to generate earnings of up to twice the average Nigerian farmer's annual income. Sunday plans on using the profit to build a better house for his family.

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers and helps them increase yields.
