A loan helped to start a poultry project and purchase and insure a dairy cow.

Pamela's story

Pamela L. is 40 years old. She is married with five children who are between the ages of nine and twenty. Four of the children are currently attending school. Pamela has been farming for the last twenty years in Kitale town, western Kenya. Her mixed farm produces maize, beans, bananas and milk which she sells locally. She also earns income from her salon in the same location.

Pamela recently repaid a previous loan of 30,000 KES from Juhudi Kilimo and has requested this loan of 61,200 KES to start a poultry project and purchase and insure a dairy cow. The income from this loan will help improve the livelihood of the family in terms of education and health. Her primary challenges are poor prices for her products and the lack of a proper market. However, she hopes to acquire five more dairy cows and maintain a poultry farm in the future.

Pamela comments that Juhudi should diversify their products to provide school fees loans as well.
