A loan helped a member to purchase additional inventory and to use as working capital.

Liza Magamay Group's story

Liza M., from the village of Upper Puntod, is the 35-year-old group leader of a two-member group loan offered by PMPC. While both members receive an individual loan, they are each responsible for paying back the loan of their fellow group member if delinquency or default occurs.

Liza, who is married and has eight school-aged children, owns and operates a business making and selling snacks and other delicacies in the local community. Engaged in her business for over three years, she earns approximately 5,000 PHP a month.

In 2008, Liza joined PMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Having repaid her previous loan of 20,000 PHP from PMPC that was used to purchase raw ingredients needed to make products for sale, she is requesting a new loan of 20000 PHP which will be used to purchase additional inventory and as working capital. This will be Liza's fifth loan from PMPC, and she plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
