Bayarlhagva's story

Bayarlhagva is 37 years old and lives with his wife and two children in Zavhan province, Mongolia. His two children, ages 12 and 10, attend a local secondary school. His wife, Otgontsetseg, is a salesperson and her monthly salary is 150,000 tugrugs (~ 110 USD).

During the day, Bayarlhagva earns his living by operating a meat and raw material trading business in his town. He has been operating his businesses since 2000, and has steadily expanded both businesses. His meat trading business is seasonal and his profit is high during the summer. Bayarlhagva's monthly profit is between 80,000 – 150,000 tugrugs (~ 60 – 110 USD). He sells his products at his rental counter and has a loyal customer base.

Originally he was a herder between 1990 and 2000 before he has started the meat and raw material trading business. Bayarlhagva is a very hardworking person and is focused on the future. He says, “I started saving money for my children's tuition fees to provide a good education for them.” He is requesting a 1,000,000 tugrug loan to purchase a plot of land with a house and yard for his family.
